Understanding Trauma: SEET’s Workshop on Trauma and PTSD
With Krish Phua, held at ETH Zurich on 8 July 2025To SEET Website →When supporting refugees, understanding trauma isn’t just helpful—it’s essential. Many people navigating displacement carry invisible burdens that shape their well-being, trust, and integration.
At SEET, we believe that real support begins with awareness. That’s why, on 8 July 2025, we hosted a dedicated workshop on Trauma and PTSD, led by professional counsellor and trainer Krish Phua at ETH Zurich (Federal Institute of Technology). The event was primarily designed for SEET Mentors and Stakeholders, including board members, volunteers, and members. But what truly stood out was the presence of SEET Mentees (refugees) and supporters from the Perspektiven Studium network. This participation reflects their commitment to strengthening their independence and resilience as they begin their academic journeys in Switzerland.
During the session Krish Phua explored:
- Trauma-focused Approaches: Understanding what trauma and PTSD are, and how they manifest.
- Practical Tools & Techniques: Strategies for supporting individuals with migratory backgrounds.
- Self-Care for Mentors: Building resilience to prevent burnout and secondary trauma.
